Tansen is an old Newari hill town in Palpa, once a Magar kingdom and later a trade and craft center known for its brass and dhaka cloth. Steep cobbled lanes, the Tansen Durbar and the riverside ruin of Rani Mahal reward a visit. Its mid-hill perch gives long views toward the Himalaya on clear days.
