Shey Phoksundo Lake
Nepal's deepest lake — turquoise water in the remote, roadless heart of Dolpo.
KarnaliKarnali Province
Shey Phoksundo is Nepal's deepest lake, a luminous turquoise sheet at 3,611 m inside Shey Phoksundo National Park in remote Dolpo. Ringed by cliffs and the Bon and Tibetan-Buddhist villages of upper Dolpo, it is one of the most striking and least-visited corners of the country. Reaching it is a wild trek made famous by the film Himalaya.
