Namche Bazaar is the bustling Sherpa capital of the Khumbu, built in a horseshoe of terraces at 3,440 m. Almost every Everest trekker spends an acclimatization day here among bakeries, gear shops and the Saturday market. It is the gateway between the lower forests and the high Khumbu.
